A message from your hosts, Eric & Julie Startup
It didn’t take us long to realize that we had found the perfect encore career when we began operating a 3 room B&B in our home in 2004. In 2009 Eric saw the light and left his banking career in order to spend more time with Julie in the kitchen and in the garden, enjoying vicarious travel through the stories told by Beachview Retreat’s globe-trotting guests.
In truth, not all of our travel adventures are second hand. Over the last several years places like Istanbul, Rhodes, Casablanca, Luang Prabang, Hanoi, Bangkok, London, Athens, Christchurch, Porto, Santiago de Compostela and St John’s have come alive for us, more complex and even more alluring now that we have seen them ourselves. Eric has maintained travel blogs for several of these trips and we invite you to browse these journals to share a bit of our adventures.
